It is impossible to track down my damned BT.com account number. The person that I spoke to via your “chat window”, was very unhelpful. Why wouldn’t he tell me my account number?
Yesterday I promised my son that he could stay up and watch the Tottenham vs Liverpool football match on BT Sport. I logged in to http://sport.bt.com with my login details, but couldn’t go any further, because I needed my account number to proceed.
I then logged into my http://www.bt.com account to find it out. My son’s excitement grew and – the account number was missing from my profile.
Your customer service representative would not help me. Apparently, the account number is on the top right of the bill? What bill? I don’t get paper bills!
Oh, the account number would be listed as a reference on my bank statement? I have news for you: it’s not my bank statement, so I don’t have access to it.
I have access to my profile on bt.com – where my account number should be listed.
I don’t know of any online banking system that does not reveal an account number when you log in. I can only conclude that you, BT, (as an entity) willingly punish your customers, because you are so paranoid that somebody will take advantage of you.
In a fit of pique I told BT’s customer service representative that I wanted paper billing from now on. He said “yes”, but we will charge you £1.50 per month for the privilage!
The long and short of it: my son didn’t get to watch the match.
Yes, please do send my account number to me via the post, but, it is too bloody late.
